Love is patient

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.1 Corinthians 13

These words lined the aisle of our last wedding. Right now, it is a painful and sweet reminder of the road we are walking:

Last week, we were contacted by another birth family. It is a heartbreaking situation, and we are still very uncertain what will happen. Either way, we are called to love. We are called to take chances: To love people for who they are, not what they will do. To love without fear. This kind of love is scary, because you risk pain. Yet, that is the beauty of it: Somewhere in the risk, there is peace and joy. We stop worrying about ourselves. Deep down in our soul, we find, that this is what we were made for.

I believe this kind of love only comes from God. And I believe it is this kind of  love, that will change the world.

Here's to hoping God will give us the patience, courage and resilience to love like this. And maybe one day, our adoption story will have an ending. For all of you who are still following, thank you. K and K

Fridays are for Fun

Well here we are friends: Friday once again. Looking back, the week has been just great:

*Went to Costco and only ate one sample. I'd say that deserves a victory lap.

*Not to talk about the weather, but it was amazing this week.

*Spoiled on Saturday night by some good friends. They took us to dinner, we talked for hours, and left so encouraged. Their generosity and kindness inspires us.

*The church office was closed this week because of some construction, which meant Kenny was home working. Best.Week.Ever!

*Loved working with this sweet couple last weekend.

*Captured Nicole on Sunday at her family's ranch. Anytime I am with her family, it just feels like home. (Although don't get the idea that I'm a country girl: The only time I've ever rode horseback was on a girl scout trip in third grade)

*Yes, I was a girl scout for a year in elementary school; mostly because I love their cookies.

*Watched the sunset multiple times this week. Northern California is a great place to be right now.

*On the other hand, discovered many spiders in or around my house this week. That's not good. Not good at all. I was about to move back to Portland, but then Kenny called pest control.

*And bought some new books last weekend. I admit it, I'm a reader. It is one of my favorite pastimes.

Well, wedding season officially starts tomorrow: And we couldn't be more excited! Have a great weekend everyone!

Lots of Love, K and K

Fridays are for Fun

Well our life has been absolutely flying by. The days turn into weeks and before we know it, September is halfway over. Truly, we are so blessed, but I would be lying if I didn't say we are a little tired.  In the last couple weeks, we have had some great adventures. *Stayed in Portland for less than 48 hours. It was definitely a work trip, but that's not to say we didn't enjoy the wonderful Northwest. Seventy degrees never felt better.

*Stayed in San Francisco last weekend for a little bit of work and a lot of fun.

*Saw that once again I am not a good "packer". Even though I check the forecast, I am either too warm or not warm enough. Perhaps one day I will get this right.

*Attended the Dave Matthews Concert thanks to our brother, Allen. While Dave is an incredible artist, I was really there to see Allen open up the show. Dear Allen, you are amazing. The end.

*Bought Kenny some skinny jeans. Um. yes, I did just say that. We are nearly hispsters, well, almost.

*And I think all the traveling and craziness may have thrown off my sleep schedule. There was a good week and a half, where I simply could not sleep well at night. Let's be honest, by the sixth night I took some time to look up "Insomnia" on the world wide web, because I was certain something was wrong.

*Turns out, it may have been stress and sugar induced. No more Cinnamon Toast Crunch late at night. This girl needs her sleep.

*In the middle of our travels, my Mom came for a quick trip to Chico. Now, this is always a treat. My mom, she is just the best!

*Oh yes, and I tasted my first pumpkin spice latte of the season. So good! Thank you Starbucks.

Well we are excited for this weekend! We have six more weddings this year and we are looking forward to be celebrating with Megan and Jarrett tomorrow. Happy Friday to all of you!

Cheers! K and K

Oh yes, and we had the chance to photograph Lauren last night for her senior session. Isn't she SO pretty?

Chico Wedding Photographers : Fridays are for Fun

I am at that point in the summer, where I no longer know what day it is. Oh dear -- does anyone else have this happen? I did figure out that today is Friday, and so like every Friday, I wanted to recollect some of this weeks adventures: *Went from sixty degree weather at the Oregon coast to 105 degree weather here in Chico. Hello sweat :)

*Ended an eleven day road trip, by spending time with the Stone family in Depoe Bay. It was such a good trip. We had the best of times with both of our families. Our hearts are full and more than ever, we just feel so blessed by family!

*In eleven days we laughed a ton, ate a lot of great food, made so many memories and caught up on a little bit of rest.

*Celebrated with Brett and Devon who just got engaged! So excited for these two amazing people.

*Attempted to run most days while on vacation. Let me tell you, I am way more motivated to run in cool weather with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. Needless to say, I am going to try to find that kind of motivation back here in Chico.

*After almost eleven days off of work, I hardly recognized my office and to do list. Good thing we love our jobs.

*Flew a kite at the Oregon Coast. Well, Kenny flew the kite, I just took pictures :) And just so you know, the Stone family is the "real deal" when it comes to kite flying. We had three kites going at once -- one of the kites flying hundreds and hundreds of feet high and wide. We nearly took over the coastline :)

*Went to the Thursday Night Market last night. So excited to see that bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes are back in season. Nothing like taking home a basketful of vegetables for only three dollars and fifty cents. Thank you Chico farmers!

*Looking forward to another weekend to catch up and spend time with family. We have thirteen weddings left this year and I am just praying for a miraculous "cool down" before the next round of weddings begin :)

Have a great weekend friends! We'd love to hear about some of your summer adventures too -- so feel free to share below. Much Love, K and K
