Dear Josh and Katie, Words don't seem fitting for thank you. Really, we are honored, grateful and blessed to have captured your day. You treated us like friends -- and you treat everyone that way. Things like this don't go unnoticed. We love your style -- and how you brought so many of elements of that to your wedding day. May you have a wonderful, sweet life together. Here is part one from your amazing wedding day.

Much Love, K and K

Josh and Katie both prepared to see each other at Hotel Diamond in downtown Chico.

Oh yes, Vera Wang -- you did a gorgeous job with this dress...

Katie, you are full of joy!

Definitely going to need to write a blog post about these boutonnieres. Josh is looking so dapper in his suit. Definitely inpspiring...

You are both stunning...

The first look... followed by many portraits to come...

Cheers to our friends! More to come next week. Have a great three day weekend!

If you didn't see part one on Friday, you may want to scroll through those first. Here is their reaction upon seeing one another....

Seriously, they are so fun! And they are so beautiful...

Aric graduated from the Physical Science Program -- so he asked if we could take a photo in front of the building. These turned out to be some of my favorites...

This was just a candid, between portraits, and I love the composition and their expressions.

The bridesmaid dresses were from Nordstrom... Now I know why I liked them so much!

Even the programs went perfectly with their simple, yet elegant theme....

The ceremony took place at the Bidwell Bowl Ampitheater on a gorgeous fall day!

The reception details were again just so simple, yet lovely!

Upper crust did a great job with the cake once again...

And as the guests made their way to the Arroyo Room for the reception, we took a few more photos right here in the park...

Cinnamin added these details to her look, for the reception. I love it!

And we will end here -- a look at their first dance...

Chico Photographer: B Family Tease...

On Friday, I worked with this sweet family. They were together, to celebrate Great-Grandma's 95th birthday! I am realizing more and more how many unique stories there are for me to capture. I went away Friday morning, honored to have met this family and witness a bit of their story.... Here are just a few photos of our session... Are they one, happy family, or what?

Amy had contacted me about this session, and her family is so sweet!

I fell in love with this little man! He was all smiles for my camera!

Chico Wedding Photographer: Aric and Cinnamin Part One...

Dear Aric and Cinnamin, Your wedding day just felt like home. It was so down to earth; so relaxed and full of joy. It was fun to watch you interact with each other before the ceremony, to see how calm you really were and how steadfast your love is. The day was beautiful, probably the first hint of fall weather here in Chico. Thank you for letting us come into your lives, to get a glimpse of what your home feels like. We are so thankful!

Much Love, K and K

And, here is a look into the first part of their day...

M Creations did the beautiful floral work for their day...

If you know Cinnamin at all, then you know that she is full of joy!

Cinnamin, you are beautiful!

Love this dress!

We met Aric moments before he was about to see his bride for the first time... He is a great man!

Moments before seeing her groom...

And as for the first look and the rest of the wedding... Coming next week!

Chico Wedding Photographer: Danny and Bridget

We don't always get to work with our clients prior to their wedding day. This was the case with Bridget and Danny. And yet, we felt like friends. Their wedding day was filled with so many creative elements and everyone laughed and cried tears of joy from the moment the day began. I am so thankful to have seen all of the emotions of their wedding day through the lens of my camera. Truly, it was an honor.Danny and Bridget, I hope you know how thankful we are for you two! You are a stunning couple and it was so obvious how many people just adore you two!

Cheers to the Newlyweds!

Ok, is she just so beautiful?

The girls are gorgeous!

I love this photo of Bridget -- because you can actually see the tears of joy coming down her face... And I am pretty sure Danny had the same reaction...

The details were amazing! Bridget had spent months drying the Manzanita branches...

Mindy, with Special Times Catering, did a fantastic job of putting everything together. Just beautiful!

Upper Crust provided the cake, which had their names and wedding date written in arabic.

Cambray Rose Florist provided the amazing flowers for the day. This ring was a family heirloom, and Bridget wore it the entire day as well..

And as for the rest of the evening, there is more to come. For now, thank you Danny and Bridget. What an honor!

Chico Engagement Photographer: Josh and Katie Tease...

Dear Josh and Katie: You are beautiful people! I can hardly wait to see more of your photos. Thank you for letting us be a part of this season of your life; we are totally blessed by you! And as for this afternoon, I will photograph one more sweet couple and then I plan to watch the Amazing Race tonight, and cuddle with my newest nephew...

Chico Wedding Photographer: The Heart of What We Do...

As Kenny and I have been working on some new projects and rebranding, one thing continues to resonate with us. Authenticity. We want our clients to be themselves -- to laugh with us, or cry with us, to make themselves at home, right in front of our camera. Because when that happens, when our clients become vulnerable and let their guard down, we know that they also become friends.

Being a wedding photographer is so much more than understanding photography and taking photos: For us, it is about creating trust with the people that we serve and ultimately, walking alongside them, as friends, in these sweet, beautiful moments of life.

And because this photo tells this kind of story...

Chico Photographer: Sweet Baby C...

Just in case you were wondering why I can't get enough of this little guy... He is beautiful, absolutely perfect! This week we will take his newborn photos... but in case some of you needed a pre-tease of those, here you go... Carsten Jeremiah, you are amazing. We love our new nephew so much!

Chico Engagement Photographer: Stephen and Kelsey Tease...

In between the excitement of baby Carsten's birth, we also had the opportunity to work with these two amazing people this past weekend! Stephen and Kelsey, you are so, so wonderful! This is one of the first photos from our time together... I cannot wait to look at the rest! Cheers to this Monday rain and another very full week!

Chico Wedding Photographer: Zach and Ashley Tease...

Whew... It has been an incredible two days! My sister went into labor yesterday, we photographed a wedding, we held an all nighter at the hospital last night, and today, we celebrated the birth of our newest nephew. Does it get much better than this? What an amazing weekend! Tonight I wanted to share a tease from this gorgeous Friday afternoon wedding. Zach and Ashley, you are perfect together. Thank you so much for letting us share in your day, and thank you for letting us check our text messages ever so often, as we were giddy with excitement at the thought of a baby being born!

So cheers to hardly any sleep and the amazing miracle of childbirth!

And I have not had time to look at many of their photos yet, but I do love this shot of Ashley...

Chico Wedding Photographer: Aric and Cinnamin Tease...

I have so much gratitude for this couple and the others involved in their sweet celebration Saturday! Aric and Cinnamin, you are beautiful together! Cheers to Monday and call me crazy, but I kind of hope it rains today...

To All My Sisters Out There: The Smallest of Details

Hey Friends -- Quick post today, as I am just working away. Oh yes, and let's not forget, that my sister is going to have a baby any day. So perhaps my brain is on excitement overload, making it much harder to concentrate on these blog posts. As a wedding photographer, I continue to see that the smallest of details matter. While it is certainly my job to be creative and set the scene for the extraordinary; sometimes I find a bride has gone the extra mile in considering so many of her details. Here is an example below. The bride had ordered a custom hanger for her wedding dress and it made a world of difference in her photos. A tiny detail like this, will give such personalized character to your photos. Photos with this kind of detail are also perfect for wedding albums. I just love it.

In your wedding planning, perhaps you can find a few extra moments to consider the small things. And in case any of you want to know how to order these: here is a link to an etsy site for you!

Cheers to Wednesday! Wow, this week is flying by! Thank you again to the best of clients and friends!

Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Lately I have been meeting with quite a few couples, and I have begun to wonder how I could help more -- how can I help people make a good decision about their wedding photography? And when I say that, I do not assume that we are the best choice for everyone, because we aren't. There are so many choices and good choices. So what are some helpful things for couples to discern about the wedding photographers that they meet with. How can they make the best choice for themselves? I would say more than anything -- make sure the photographer is a professional. Ask them about their work, look at their photos. View a variety of their photos to see how they look in different situations, are they consistently producing high quality images? Interview them about their experience.

Once you are able to discern whether or not a photographer has the experience that you want, then I would say the second most important thing to determine, is whether or not this photographer makes you comfortable. Do you get along well with them and do you think that they will be able to put you at ease on your wedding day? A photographer spends a great deal of time with you on your wedding day and it is important that they are someone who you would want to invite into that day. Can you envision this photographer as part of your day? Kenny and I love the relationships that we get to build because of our work. You almost want your photographer to feel like a friend. At least that is how we want our clients to feel -- because this will give them the freedom to be themselves.

Obviously photographers have different styles, and you will see that, in the images that they produce. So make sure that their work matches what you envision as an end product. Also, does the kind of work they do, have a timeless value to it -- so that in ten years you will still love your photos?

Perhaps there is more I could say on this subject. Perhaps there is less I could say. I want the kind of clients who cannot wait to see what images we produce and trust us to the fullest. At the end of the day, if you can feel this way about the photographer you choose, then that is certainly the right choice for you.

Cheers to decision making (which I am slowly improving on). And because I am steadily working on this wedding, I thought I would show you at least one more photo -- because I can hardly wait!
